Sewer Project
Ecology funding application was submitted and the funding cycle is closed. Staff are going through the screening process and will begin the ranking and rating process. A draft offer list will be published in mid-January.
County has a fully-executed MOU. Angie will send out the signed copy. Future discussions about forming an LID will be taking place while waiting for the Ecology offer list to be published. Mark – Working on this in the next couple weeks and will outline what steps are needed and figure out how to work with the HOA and neighborhood.
DOH issued a Notice of Correction to Flaura’s. Dates can be modified as more is learned about project funding and timelines for construction.
Drinking Water
DOH offers grant funding for consolidation feasibility studies. This would be a logical next step towards consolidation with the City of Sequim. The City would need to apply for the grant, but SCI staff could write the application and assist with procurement of engineering services and grant management to avoid extra work for City staff. Cynthia will set up a time to discuss with Paul to get his input. Mark has a meeting with the city manager soon to work on this as well.
DOH also has grant funding for construction of improvements that will be necessary before the City will consider consolidation. The City must be invited to apply by DOH. Cynthia will contact DOH staff to see if there has been any discussion about approaching the City.
Next Steps
Lisa Ann has reached out to Rep. Tharinger and he will support an appropriation. County commissioners will help advocate for this as well.
Procure an engineer through methods that meet state and federal standards. This will need to be done through the County, and does not need to happen immediately. United Engineering is the only firm on the peninsula who are qualified to handle the septic system engineering. Ron knows the process, Cynthia and Travis can provide the procurement rules and assist if needed.
